Who is Anthony Brown and Why is he Running for Judge.

·Minnesota’s judicial system is absolutely rigged against the poor and the powerless.

· Minnesota judges have too much power with too little accountability.

· Minnesota judges fear only one thing: losing an election.

Most lawyers are afraid to challenge a sitting appellate court judge. Anthony Brown is not. Anthony Brown has always been a fighter. When he saw injustice in his church as a teen, he called it out—the membership then elected him to church leadership. When he saw injustice in his undergraduate institution’s student government, he called it out—the student body then elected him president. When he saw injustice as a member of the Saint Paul Human Rights Commission, he called it out—the Mayor appointed him Chairman of the Commission. And as an attorney he has seen countless injustices in Minnesota courtrooms—now he wants your vote to put him on the Court of Appeals, so that he can call them out too.

For nearly two decades Anthony Brown has fearlessly represented his clients at every level of the American judicial systems—including the Supreme Court of the United States. That experience compels him to acknowledge what every lawyer knows (but is afraid to say) about the state of Minnesota’s judiciary:

·     Minnesota’s judicial system is absolutely rigged against the poor and the powerless.

·     Minnesota judges have too much power with too little accountability.

·     Minnesota judges fear only one thing: losing an election.

Anthony Brown is different. As a judge, he will be a champion for the powerless and poor; that doesn’t mean they will always win, but they will finally play on a level field with the powerful and the wealthy. He won’t assume that his views or experiences define the universe of what is real but will listen with an ear toward understanding the parties’ views—that’s called judicial humility. And when he decides a case, Minnesotans will be able to trust that he is willing to bear the consequences of his decision, even if that means losing an election or being overturned by a higher court.

To that end he pledges:

•     No Partisan Political Endorsements

•     No Special Interest Endorsements

•     No Corporate Contributions

•     No Political Action Committee Contributions
